Moving to a new home is never an easy task. Below are tips that can make the job easier and you will see that your move will not be a heavy load.

Plan your move

If you know that you are going to move, plan for at least a month in advance with everything you have to do and how you will do it. Organize the times you will spend in packing, make a list of things that are important (the things you will use until the last minute before you go: toothbrush, toothpaste, soap, a towel, underwear, utensils, etc). Prepare a checklist to go aiming everything you are getting so that you have an inventory of everything that will come to your new home.

Prepare all the materials you need

Make an estimate of the number of boxes you need to store your stuff as well as their dimensions. With the list in hand, you can go to stores and shops where you can give or sell boxes and make sure they are in good condition.  Always have you for a cutter or a scissors when packing, as well as wet and dry wipes to clean up a little. If you consider other materials needed to pack, add them to your list and get them. Once you have all the materials at home, reinforce the base of the boxes with strips of cinnamon tape.

Separate things that you don’t need

Now if the time to pack begins, review what you have kept for a long time and that you do not use, separate them in a black bag those that are in good condition. These items that are in good condition can be donated.

Organize your boxes and furniture

Organize your boxes according to their dimensions. Wrap your items in a newspaper or bubble wrap to protect them and place everything that is fragile in the same box without empty spaces to prevent from moving. You need to make sure that all of your items are packed according to sizes and separate fragile items.

Look for a professional mover

The change of houses implies that you will have to load boxes and furniture, some are very heavy and large, so you may not be able to do it alone. You need to look for companies that provide a moving service and quote with them how much it would cost to do the job. You can go online and type the keyword “moving companies near me”. Request for a free quote from each company then compare. You will notice that it may cost you a little more than doing it yourself but it will give you a huge advantage. Some even offer the unpacking service. Moving companies are a big help to lessen the headache in moving to a new home.

Once you have completed these steps, you will notice that you are safer and quieter with the move. If you like these tips to make the life of others easier when moving, then please feel free to share!

Sometimes we tend to move everything by ourselves for it can help us save a lot of money than hiring someone to do it. However, there are a lot of risks when you decide to move heavy furniture. Getting injuries and damaging your belongings just to name a few.

Here are some safety tips that could help you prevent those from happening:

Use a dolly. You can consider to ret or buy your own dolly. A dolly can be very vital for moving heavy objects such as your bulky sofa. Another great thing is you could avoid getting yourself injured.

Use lifting straps and furniture slides. Furniture slides can help you slide heavy furniture on your floor without doing any damage. Lifting straps can protect your back by allowing you to lift objects by your shoulders.

Observe proper form. Another way to prevent any innuries is to observe proper form when lifting. You need to keep your back straight and bend your knees to avoid breaking your back.

Carry high and low. Tall or long furniture such as cabinets and wardrobes should be carried at an angle and not at a straight level. This means that one should carry one end high and the other end should be carried low.

Look for help. Never attempt to move heavy furniture by yourself and look for extra hands to help you. You could ask your friends or hire professional movers.
